Driveshaft and
Axle Modifications

When installing a long-travel lift, quite often the front
driveshaft will require lengthening. The best way to do this is to construct a

Not all tubing is suitable for driveshaft fabrication. To do a
proper job (ie: keeping in mind issues such as trueness, durability,
strength, and reliability), special materials are required. Bigger Pic |

The new (longer) driveshaft is constructed. Various driveshaft
tube wall thicknesses and tube diameters are available for high torque, high

Old driveshaft flanges are precisely placed. A dial indicator
is used to precisely true up both flanges and eliminate any sort of runout. Bigger Pic |

High articulation (long travel) suspension systems require
special driveshaft considerations. The slip-yoke travel must be long enough
to accommodate and utilize all of the front suspension travel. This may
involve swapping a slip yoke from a different vehicle. Remember, we are
dealing with triangulation, so a long travel suspension system with a long
driveshaft requires little lateral movement of the slip yoke. So, even an
increase in slip yoke spline length of ¼” is very significant. Bigger Pic |

Lots of parts are available for custom driveshaft design.
Weather you need to increase the size and strength of your U-joints, or you
need a custom driveshaft to work with a new transfer case / axle setup …. We
