Innovation
"Out
of the box" innovation is the key axiom at TLE 4X Fab. Our suspension and drivetrain
designs are not entirely based on the methods that others have employed. By
removing the limits and stepping over the well-trod hump of common mods,
innovation flows and spreads like a river without banks. Limitless innovation
combined with appropriate technical skills, knowledge and experience makes
anything possible. It can be done.

A
Ford Triton V8 and it’s factory automatic transmission was relocated to the
middle of the truck for several reasons: 1. to make room for the suspension
system under the hood, 2. to be able to fit two 4 speed manual transmissions and
two transfer cases. Other gained advantages include: keeping the engine and
transmission far out of danger, better weight distribution, much easier
accessibility and air intake is up and out of the way. The increased center
of gravity is counteracted by the addition of two cast iron 4 speed manual
transmissions, and two NP205 transfer cases all located under the vehicle. |
The
internal / external roll cage is designed to protect the body and driver /
passenger in case of a roll over. The roll cage extends inside the engine compartment
and is attatched securely to the frame. In addition to roll-over protection,
the front portion of the roll cage is designed to stiffen the C channel frame.
Basically, the C channel frame is now prevented from providing any additional
articulation. All suspension articulation will be exclusively derived from
the suspension system. The integral roll cage also acts as the front pivot / tract
mount for the front suspension coil springs which has a curb (compressed)
length of about 3 feet. The roll cage system extends to the rear of the truck
to stiffen the rear portion of the frame in 6 different places with the added
help of multiple crossmembers (to hold the “extended” drivetrain”) The
roll cage was designed with “triangulation” – a triangle is a very strong and
sturdy geometric shape. Almost all trusses (ie: bridges) utilize triangles in
their construction. Same with this roll cage. |
